Reforming Tenure in Schools of Education Tierney, William G. (2001). Reforming Tenure in Schools of Education. Phi Delta Kappan, 82(7), 550-554. Retrieved from http://www.jstor.org/ durable/20439961 This article was about how kick upstairs could be reformed end-to-end all levels of gentility. William G. Tierney described how his studies led him to find that the reward of tenure weighed heavily over the education of our students. He found the education system of our students was based solely on the research of a particular subject matter instead of the present social welfare of the educational needs of the student at hand. He came up with five models of reform that could be possible. The models were maintaining a status quo, evolution a charter, reforming the tenure codes, including alternatives to tenures with differentiating tasks, and dispensing the tenure system as a whole. In conclusion of his article, he found that implementing such reforms would motion a change in educational roles of the teacher if a different reward structure were to exist.

In my opinion, this article contained tuition that would be valuable to parents who may have been unaware of this branch of tenure that is present in our educational system. This would make them much aware of their childs type of time-based instruction in the classroom or the lack there of. This would also launch them an idea of the type of system that is preparing our children for post-secondary education. I feel that as a future educator that tenure looks good in the matter of research; however, we need to focus our needs on that of the students and not that of a rank or a status.
