The article by E .L . Godkin used for this exercise dealt with the working class and their attitudes arising from the labor upheaval of 1877 . Godkin discusses in the article unspoilt about how citizenry felt about matters connected with work and their jobs . brio situations , although improved during that period and working conditions still caused bitter strikes permit the owners of these industries know that there was a great deal of dissatisfaction among the workers . This stress was felt in masses and this discontent had many causes that the germ believed was because of political corruption and capitalism .
