Abstract
The definitions of lucre marketing and direct sell are constantly changing and being
interpreted differently by various scholars and even industrial practitioners.
In view of the
change magnitude popularity of network marketing worldwide, clarification of the definitions of network
marketing and direct interchange is essential to avoid confusion among the public as tumefy as academics.
Unfortunately, there are only a some research articles on these topics, and even fewer that deal with
recruitment and training.

and chair of the New Membership Sub-Committee of the Hong Kong Direct Selling
Association. Mr Poon founded another network marketing organization in China in 1992 (the
sister company of the one in Hong Kong), which was one of the 41 approved network marketing
companies that reached 500,000 distributors from inception between 1994 and 1997.
