In todays society, the resistant perception of Australian history has been covered up and hidden from the world. The dominant or Three Cheers View is that Australia was settled in a peace-loving manner, and was not invaded. Written by author Gary Crew in 1991, No Such landed estate has revealed the hidden side of Australias silenced away during the time of invasion. No Such Country is a book which has been written to challenge the traditional muckle of Australian history and society through the Black Armband read of view. This is depicted through the books four main characters; surface-to-air missile Shadows, Rachel Burgess, Sarah Goodwin and the Father. Sam Shadows represents the silenced and Stolen Generation, who seek to discover their family history and culture. Rachel and Sarah symbolises the younger coevals of Australians who progress to no knowledge of the past and fork out been left in the dark. They also represent the laden women of the past. And lastly, the Father embodies the White patriarchy and White Imperial see that Crew believes invaded the land in 1788.
Sam Shadows symbolises the Stolen Generation who have been left in the dark. The Stolen Generation are the group of Aboriginals who have had their past kept from them, and have been pushed aside and forgotten nigh in Australian society.

Sam is depicted as an alien in search of his history and culture when he maiden enters New Canaan. He grew up in an orphanage as a youngster, and had no recollection of his past life or family existence. Mrs Hibbert, the caretaker of the orphanage was the closest person Sam had to family. However, during their time together, Mrs Hibbert and the lie of the caretakers at The Home covered up Sams past and cast it aside as if it never happened, since thats what they believed was best for him. When Mrs Hibbert writes in the confidential file containing information virtually the boy known as Samuel Shadows, there is a sharp part in which she writes;
