One of the major challenges facing the irrigate utilities in develop countries is the high level of peeing losses in their networks. In Mauritius, 50% of treated pee is lost and is therefore unaccounted. This inequality of water produced and water billed is known as non-revenue water (NRW). Such level of water loss is unacceptable. Various efforts w atomic number 18 been made in the past to reduce the level of water loss. The Central Water Authority, (CWA) which is the sole supplier of potable water in Mauritius has set the target of reducing NRW to 25% by 2008 (CWA Corporate Plan: 2004). Unfortunately, the NRW level still oscillates around the 50% in 2012.
